Great Taste Award Winner 2025!
This washed lot was processed at a cherry mill in Ayarza, Santa Rosa. In Guatemala, coffee is often processed individually by smallholder farmers, which can lead to inconsistencies in quality from one lot to another. The team in Ayarza addresses this by working closely with numerous farmers across the region, paying a premium for ripe cherries and processing them centrally to ensure consistently high standards. Francisco Nájera is one of many local producers who supply cherries to the Ayarza mill.
Francisco was born in El Naranjo, a town in the Jutiapa department of Guatemala. Now 30 years old, he is married with two children and has been involved in coffee production for around 15 years. Although he cultivates less than one hectare across several small plots, Francisco is a determined and enterprising farmer. He has thrived in the coffee industry despite facing adversity and the ongoing threat of crop diseases. In addition, he contributes to the local farming community by running a coffee tree nursery, providing saplings to fellow growers in the region.
Please note: If purchasing coffee beans only, the minimum order quantity is 2 bags. You are more than welcome to order a single bag if the total order value is £30 or greater.
